Mental and physical health are the 2 most frequent types of health discussed today, however spiritual, emotional and financial health contribute to a person’s overall health. It is proven that lower stress levels show improvement in physical and mental well-being.
Physically, as human beings, we play a huge role in how we affect our personal health with life choices. Exercise, diet and nutrition are all contributing factors to the creation of your body as it is today.
Mentally, if we have a positive outlook on life, take time for ourselves and take part in activities that relax our mind and body, this will drastically improve the quality of your life and your overall Health.
What is Wellness?
According to Pfizer “Wellness is the act of practising healthy habits on a daily basis to attain better physical and mental health outcomes, so that instead of just surviving, you’re thriving.”
To understand the significance of wellness, it’s important to understand how it’s linked to health.
Several key areas of your lifestyle are considered dimensions of overall Wellness. They include: social connectedness, exercise, nutrition, sleep and mindfulness. Each one has an impact on your physical and mental health.
By making simple and healthy choices on a daily basis, you will be well on your way towards reducing stress, having positive social interactions and achieving optimal wellness.
Social connectedness – Meeting up with friends or loved ones is a great way of improving your wellbeing both physically and mentally. Even 10 minutes of speaking to one of your nearest companions is a great way of reducing stress.
Exercise – 20-30 minutes of exercise on a daily basis is all that is required to release happy endorphins, instantly improving your mood. Even just a simple brisk walk!
